LONG-TERM
RECOVERY PROGRAM

At The Healing Place of New Hanover County (THPNC), we believe in providing a supportive environment for individuals on their journey to recovery. Our approach is centered on holistic healing, addressing both the physical aspects of addiction as well as the emotional and social factors that contribute to it. We understand that recovery is a unique and personal journey for each individual, which is why we offer personalized care and support every step of the way.

THERE ARE THREE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM THAT HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

We use a curriculum that educates clients about the disease of addiction and recovery.

Our peer-led program encourages responsibility, connection, accountability, and compassion.

There are opportunities for clients to serve as peer mentors after completing the program and share their experiences, strengths, and hopes with others who are new in recovery.

CONTINUING CARE

Once a client completes the long-term recovery program, he or she can choose to become a Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors volunteer to serve as leaders and role models for those who are newer in the program. Peer Mentors teach classes, monitor assignments, coordinate job assignments, and work one-on-one with individuals moving through the recovery process. They demonstrate The Healing Place of New Hanover County’s philosophy: the best solution is one individual reaching back to help another on the journey to recovery.

All clients who complete our program receive support and assistance from our continuing care staff, including help with finding employment, housing, and navigating legal and medical issues.

REAL STORIES, REAL RECOVERY

Since I’ve been in recovery, I’ve learned to live life day by day without the use of drugs. I’ve learned how to be a husband and a father. I’ve learned how to be a good employee and a productive member of society. My drug use caused me to lose everything – my family, my friends, and everything I owned. I was lost and alone.

The Healing Place provided me with time to heal and taught me how to live again. While at The Healing Place, I learned balance and structure. I was gifted with sobriety and the true bonds of friendship. I am grateful for The Healing Place.
